Education
Dr. Payal Dey obtained her PhD from the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi and was supported by the Fulbright-Nehru Doctoral Fellowship at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. She earned her MSc in Public Policy and Administration from the London School of Economics and Political Science under the prestigious LSE-India Scholarship. She also holds an MBA in Finance and a Bachelor of Business Studies from the University of Delhi.
Work Experience
Dr. Payal Dey brings nearly twelve years of experience in public policy and governance. Her work has involved engagements with the Government of India, multilateral organisations, and leading research institutions on issues ranging from foreign direct investment regulation and public-private partnerships to energy transition and sustainable development. She has contributed to projects with organisations including the National Bureau of Asian Research, Washington D.C., the Asian Development Bank, and several leading think tanks in India.
Research
Dr. Payal Dey's research spans emerging issues in public policy, governance, regulation, and policy communication, drawing upon perspectives from political science, public administration, and law. Her recent work focuses on energy transition, universal energy access, and Sustainable Development Goal 7 and its interlinkages with broader development priorities. Her research is largely applied in nature, reflected in more than 100 projects and over 20 policy reports and research documents.
